AWS S3 Storage Classes

AWS S3 Storage Classes
AWS S3 offers a variety of S3 Storage Class options to suit your use case and performance access requirements.
S3 storage classes are designed for simultaneous loss of data in one or more facilities.
S3 storage classes provide lifecycle management that allows automatic migration of objects to save money
All S3 storage classes offer the same durability and first-byte latency. They also support SSL encryption at rest and transit.
S3 also regularly verifies data integrity using checksums, and provides the auto healing capabilityS3 Storage Class ComparisionS3 Standard
If none are specified during upload, STANDARD will be the default storage type
Low latency and high throughput
Designed for 99.999999999% (i.e. 11 9’s Durability of objects across all AZs
This product is designed to be 99.99% available over a given period of time
Resilient against events that affect an entire Availability Zone. It is designed to sustain data loss in two facilities.
Ideal for performance-sensitive use cases and frequently accessed data
S3 Standard can be used for a variety of uses, including cloud applications and dynamic websites. It can also be used to distribute content and mobile applications. Big data analytics and S3 Intelligent Tiering (S3 Intelligible-Tiering).
The S3 Intelligent Tiering storage class is designed for optimizing storage costs by moving data automatically to the most cost-effective storage access level without any operational overhead.
Automatic cost savings are achieved by moving data at a granular object level between two access levelsone tier that is optimized to frequent access and one tier.
Another tier is available at a lower cost and is optimized for data that is rarely accessed.
A frequent access tier and an infrequent access tier at a lower cost, depending on access patterns.
Ideal to optimize storage costs for long-lived data, especially when access patterns are unpredictable or unknown.
S3 charges a small monthly monitoring fee and an automation fee per object. They monitor access patterns and move objects that have not been used for 30 consecutive days to the infrequent accessibility tier.
The Intelligent Tiering storage class does not have separate retrieval fees. If an object is accessed infrequently, it is automatically moved to the frequent access Tier.
There are no additional fees for objects being moved between access levels.
For objects larger than 128KB (smaller objects are charged only for 128KB) and kept for at least 30 (charged for a minimum 30 days).
S3 Standard has the same low latency and high throughput performance as S3 Standard.
Designed for 99.999999999% (i.e. 11 9’s Durability of objects across all AZs
Designed to ensure 99.9% availability for a given yearS3 standard-infrequent access (S3 standard-IA).
The S3 Standard-Infrequent access storage class is optimized to store long-lived, less frequently accessed data. For example. Backups and older data that are not easily accessible, but still require high performance.
This is ideal for data that cannot be reproduced or the primary copy.
Data is redundantly stored across multiple geographically distinct AZs and is resilient to the loss or change of an Availability Zone.
Offers greater availability and resilience than the ONEZONE_IA Class.
Objects can be accessed in real-time.
Larger objects larger than 128KB are eligible (smaller objects are charged only for 128KB) and kept for at least 30 (minimum 30) days.
Standard has the same low latency and high throughput performance as Standard.
Designed for 99.999999999% (i.e. 11 9’s Durability of objects across all AZs
This product is designed to guarantee 99.9% availability for a given year
These objects are subject to a retrieval fee by S3 so they are best suited for infrequently accessed data.
S3 One-Zone-Infrequent Access storage classes were created for long-lived, infrequently accessed data. However, they are available for millisecond access (similarly to the STANDARD analogue).
